The Lewis Award for Arts & Culture presented by Hampton Art Lovers is dedicated to the Artist, Scholar, and Educator Dr. Samella Lewis the Founder of the International Review for African American Art published by Hampton University Museum - The oldest African-American Museum (and Art Museum) in America.
This Award is dedicated to Artists that exemplify the Spirit of Dr. Lewis, who through their art, dedication to education and the upliftment of African-American History propel the efforts of Dr. Lewis to new generations of artists, educators and art historians.
