Silhouettes: Curator Tour

  • The Wolfsonian 1001 Washington Avenue Miami Beach, FL, 33139 United States (map)

See the artworks of Silhouettes: Image and Word in the Harlem Renaissance through the eyes of guest curator Christopher Norwood on this special Memorial Day Weekend tour.

A collector, gallery owner, and passionate advocate for African American art past and present, Norwood offers insights on the cultural impact of the Great Migration, the powerful influence of Black spiritual traditions, and the role of Haiti as an inspiration for artists and writers.

Marking Haitian Heritage Month, the tour will spotlight Haiti's place in the imagination of the Harlem Renaissance as a symbol of Black anti-colonialism that inspired figures ranging from Aaron Douglas and Paul Robeson to Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston.
